Duncan Hulme

Hello and welcome,

I am a 4th generation Fine Art Picture Restorer, Conservator, and Artist.

I originally trained in London under my father and uncle in their Chelsea studio from 1976 - 1981 as an apprentice. Work was based around paintings from the London west end trade. This comprised of high quality paintings across 5 centuries of European art and focussed mainly upon the Dutch 17th century and English 18th century artists, and also to include many notable works from the Flemish 15th century, Italian and German schools of the 16 century, and the French 19th century. Every dynamic era of European art.

An invaluable experience, tutored and enhanced by 3 previous generations of knowledge and expertise.

At 20, I went to St Martins school of Art and then later completed a BA hons degree in fine art at Bristol Bower Aston, west of England.

By 1985, I began self employment as an Artist and Picture Restorer.

I came to Australia in 1994, Sydney in 1997.

Currently working and living in Camperdown.

My restoration work over the years now speaks for itself.

My paintings also say something about my interests and traditional skills. As an artist I am not one for long artsy blather. However, suffice to say that my own work centres around images that relate the landscape to mans activity in it.

I observe a mix of rhythm, geometry and of simplicity, placing a view of the inevitable interactions between nature, and construction.

A theme echoing architecture and the issues of its interface with the land.

If you have an interest in my paintings please get in touch via email or phone.
